Sprout has definitely recovered its previous slice-of-life charm that it lacked in eps10-11. Although the ending is quite simplistic and, for some, disappointing, I have to say that it pulled together everything very nicely and gave me the closure I needed.
Seems like Sprout is mellowing out even more..if that’s even possible. It’s by no means a perfect drama but I’d say the good outweighs the bad. Sprout is stepping it up with even more artistic shots and a beautiful soundtrack. Although there are major disappointments in these two episodes, there are also some memorable moments as well.
This is the episode where I begin questioning whether Sprout is gonna go horribly wrong. There’s a scene I absolutely loved and a scene I hated. And yes, I put that featured image with MIYUKI in it just because I’m annoyed at all the Miyuki haters out there.
Not to say that the previous episodes weren’t good, but episode 7 is PERFECT. It’s my favorite episode yet, for obvious shipping reasons. I was flailing ALL THE WAY THROUGH and I can’t wait for MORE HAYATO X MIKU! Please don’t let the OTP’s get switched up!!! Please let Miku and Hayato stay together forever!
Somehow Sprout is the kind of drama that hits all the right notes for me. The whole time I feel like I’m watching a long flashback because I always feel so nostalgic and it makes me yearn for my teenage years. There are plenty of heartwarming, carefree moments mixed in with the more serious conflicts. You can just feel that our main characters are at that age where they’re not quite children, and not quite adults…
After Asuko March aired last summer, I think it’s pretty much a given that EVERY summer season should have some sort of fluffy school-life jdrama. Somehow Sprout is the only one around that feels just right for summer. And, surprisingly it differentiates itself from your typical live actions with its bittersweet, melancholy tone, a cast that actually looks the part, and a very flawed and human heroine.
