Heisui’s Thoughts: Thank you D-addicts!

Heisui's ThoughtsOther

If you’ve ever wondered how people get sparkly HD screencaps of dramas, how streaming sites magically upload English subtitled dramas, how people find jdramas that are unavailable elsewhere, and who maintains the handy “Dramawiki”….it’s all thanks to this amazing site called D-addicts.  This is the place where you can find Dramawiki, fan subtitles, HD drama sources, discussion forums, etc.  Over the years D-addicts has been known as a reliable, organized and efficient drama source.  It’s especially important to me as a jdrama fan because it’s one of the best places to find jdrama sources and fansubs.  My jdrama watching experience wouldn’t have been the same without it.

Unfortunately just recently a D-addicts admin announced the news that D-addicts will no longer be providing torrents for  dramas.  Little has been revealed about the sudden decision except that it’s due to the admin’s personal reasons.  That doesn’t mean that D-addicts is totally closed down–it’s still providing Dramawiki, discussion forums and the precious subtitle sharing forums.  But plenty of fans (me included) are acting like this is the start of the drama apocalypse.  X_X  I suppose you could equate it to the horror that everyone felt back in the day when Mysoju (an old popular drama streaming site) closed down.  It’s shocking and saddening news because so many people depend on D-addicts as their main source for dramas.

A lot of fans are not only expressing shock and sadness, but also gratitude towards D-addicts.  In the end, we can only say “thank you” to all the contributors at D-addicts for serving the drama community so faithfully and for sharing the drama love.  It’s thanks to D-addicts that I was able to watch so many wonderful jdramas.  I hope drama fans will continue to support D-addicts and the fansubbers! 🙂

  • Yes, D-Addicts torrents were a great source of dramas, and it’s such a wonderful community as a whole. I really like the forum and will still continue visiting even without the torrents. I just hope the subbers keep posting their subtitles there. The good thing is, many people have come forward to suggest alternative ways of getting torrents, so all is not lost (well, that’s what we’d all like to think).

    • Yes I think we’ll still survive, there are other alternatives out there! It is great that the community has come together to think of other ways to keep it alive.

  • Excuse the French, but FUUUUUUUUUUCK. That was definitely the most reliable source for j-dramas. I didn’t mind as much when mysoju went down (although it was still awful) because other sites were filling the streaming gap for k-dramas and I didn’t watch the others as much. Now, though, it stinks because Dramafever and other sites have done barely anything to fill the streaming void for j-dramas. Give me a service for those and I will pay gladly, people. Hopefully the communities can still point us in the direction of reliable torrents.

  • Omg. I don’t use d-addicts but I remember when mysoju went six feet under. I was running around like a headless chicken. But bravo to addicts contributors, salute them for their 24/7 dedications to us.

  • Heisui, hi…

Have you ever seen “Madame White Snake” ? My wife and I are really enjoying the craziness of the story and the characters.

    Any opinion?

  • I haven’t used d-addicts since I fould doramax264. I’ll also express gratitude towards d-addicts for being my primary source for dramas for years before I stopped downloading torrents.

  • lol all the tvb video on on99.se has been deleted. Now there’s only one site for hk drama fans to watch dramas which is HKTV. Time flies. We gotta cherish all the series we can watch. You never know when they will get deleted.

  • yes, thank you for all the years of sharing your precious time in providing an excellent website-D-addicts. i very much appreciated it! best of luck to you : )
