Anticipated Jdramas: Winter 2012 Edition
This last autumn/winter season of 2011 was an absolute bore for jdramas, with the exception of DOCTORS. Last year I at least had some dramas to look forward to, like BOSS 2 and JIN 2. But this year there’s nothing that’s really standing out yet. The only thing I’m rabidly waiting for is the live action Rurouni Kenshin movie, which will be released this summer.
Anyway, here’s a look at some of the upcoming winter jdramas that I’m interested in:
Hayami-san to Yobareru Hi
I really don’t know what to expect from this drama, but I’ll probably try it out anyway. Matsushita Nao (was also the heroine in CONTROL Hanzai Shinri Sousa) plays Kanai Yuriko, a rich lady who gets married to a guy who’s the eldest in his family. He has 3 younger brothers, one of which is KANAME JUN. She ends up living with her husband’s entire family…including his younger brothers. It sounds like it could either be a fun drama or a heartwarming family drama.
All I have to say is Mukai Osamu, and you will watch it.
…I know I will. So, Mukai Osuma plays an ex-rock band member who becomes a restaurant owner. Plus there’s a love triangle. That’s all you need to know.
Renai Neet ~ Wasureta Koi no Hajimekata
Considering this is a drama starring Nakama Yukie, I’m surprised I didn’t hear of it sooner. Last year’s Utsukushi Rinjin and 99 Years of Love went relatively unnoticed, so hopefully this new rom-com will be a good one. Nakama Yukie plays the part of Kinoshita Rin, an OL who seemingly has no interest in love and is hard to get along with. I’m mainly checking out this drama to see how Nakama Yukie’s character is.
I am begging the heavens to let Strangers 6 be a success. PLEASE, LET IT HAVE A PLOT. PLEASE, LET IT MAKE SENSE. PLEASE, GIVE US A GOOD ACTION THRILLER WHERE THE SECRET AGENTS HAVE BRAINS!!!!!!
Anyway, Strangers 6
really needs to change its title is about a joint operation between South Korea, Japan, and China. The three countries create a special team of 6 agents (2 from each country) to prevent an impending disaster which is predicted to strike. MMMMMMM. This is the kind of drama you watch because it’s like an experiment. I have no clue how they’re gonna solve the language barriers. It can either fail miserably or be a surprising success. Hopefully it WILL NOT be another Athena.
But if you need any other reason to watch Strangers 6, just know that Oh Ji Ho (Chuno) is in it.
Strawberry Night is a police drama about Himekawa Reiko, a female detective. After BOSS 2, I need another drama with a strong female detective chief. The special was pretty good so I’ll probably check out this drama.
